Eat, drink and be scary!

Most people say that Christmas or Thanksgiving are their favorite holidays. Not me…no sir. Halloween is far and away my favorite holiday of the year. Christmas has been so commercially bastardized that it’s lost it’s meaning and Thanksgiving is truly just the celebration of the white man encroaching on the Native American people and raping their land and culture and I think people should be thankful every day of the year…not just the fourth Thursday of November.

Halloween is different around the world and originally it was celebrated in Ireland and Great Britain as the Pagan festival Samhain. It is now celebrated all over the world and while not every culture participates, it depends on which society you are in how you will celebrate. You can read up on the history and evolution of Halloween here. It's quite interesting, really.

So, in honor of my favorite holiday, I give you some Halloween-esque tunes from my library to get you in the mood to trick or treat tonight. Not all of them are truly appropriate content wise but they've all got some pretty rad titles regardless. Whether you're going to a party in a slutty or scary costume to drink yourself sick and puke on the porch, out to see the latest scary flick (Saw IV and 30 Days of Night are my recommendations) or like me are taking the wee ones house to house begging for food and threatening retaliation if none is given be safe out there and enjoy yourselves!
